by Alice Cary
The leaves are fading and falling;
The winds are rough and wild;
The birds have ceased their calling--

But let me tell you, my child,
Though day by day, as it closes,
Doth darker and colder grow,
The roots of the bright red roses

Will keep alive in the snow.
And when the winter is over,
The boughs will get new leaves,
The quail come back to the clover,

And the swallow back to the eaves.
The robin will wear on his bosom
A vest that is bright and new,
And the loveliest wayside blossom

Will shine with the sun and dew.
The leaves today are whirling;
The brooks are all dry and dumb--
But let me tell you, my darling,

The spring will be sure to come.
There must be rough, cold weather,
And winds and rains so wild;
Not all good things together

Come to us here, my child.
So, when some dear joy loses
Its beauteous summer glow,
Think how the roots of the roses

Are kept alive in the snow.

John 15:5  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

"Soak up the sun
Affirm life's magic
Be graceful in the wind
Stand tall after a storm
Feel refreshed after it rains
Grow strong without notice
Be prepared for each season
Provide shelter to strangers
Hang tough through a cold spell
Emerge renewed at the first signs of spring
Stay deeply rooted while reaching for the sky
Be still long enough to
hear your own leaves rustling."

Happy Easter!

What an awesome day. I am glad to know that He is risen!
We have had a beautiful day together as a family. All of the family gatherings were done Friday and Saturday. I am thankful for a day with just our little family. We went to church this morning, had lunch at home. I had a little nap...aaaahhhh. This evening we have been outdoors. It has been a beautiful day here in the south. I picked up a volleyball/badminton/horse shoe set for the family. I wanted to buy a little something for Easter, but did not want junk and indoor toys, etc. I wanted something that would get us outside to play and laugh together! They all got a good laugh when I tripped and had an amazingly graceful fall! (NOT!) :)
Hope everyone out there had a great Easter!!!

Last night we went to the East Coast Rodeo Finals in Charlotte. We went to see a friend of ours ride. J took a couple of his friends to celebrate his 12th b-day. (12???!! yikes) A fun time was had by all. Although I will admit I have mixed feelings about what they put some of those poor animals through. :(
Our friend did well considering he had a broken leg. Imagine riding with a cast on one leg!
